Producing good fruit

Luke 6:43-45

43 “A tree from good stock doesn’t produce scrub fruit nor do trees from poor stock produce choice fruit. 44 A tree is identified by the kind of fruit it produces. Figs never grow on thorns, or grapes on bramble bushes. 45 A good man produces good deeds from a good heart. And an evil man produces evil deeds from his hidden wickedness. Whatever is in the heart overflows into speech

How do we know if we are producing good fruit? Firstly have we been baptised? Have we died to our old worldly lives and been born again in the name of Jesus? Have we received the Holy spirit? if the answer to these questions is yes. Then we know that a transformation is happening. The lord is working in our lives and if we remain in him. Reading his word found in the bible. Spending time in prayer and meditation with other Christians. Worship is an amazing way to reach out to God and receive blessings.

We are then equipped to go out into the world and carry out our good deeds. Reflecting the glory back onto the Lord. There fore we are producing good fruit.

Not every person who claims to be a christian produces good fruit. This takes time and practice and learning from our past choices and actions.

Here’s a story to help you understand.

So there’s this family who have been going to church for many years. To everyone in church they are the perfect Christians. Their prayers are full of Goodness, they sing like angels and they seem to be full of righteousness. The younger Christians looked up to them. One day just out side the church was a woman. She was in distress, from the way she was acting she’d taken something.

Now this family arrived and straight away they tried to shoe her away. As it didn’t look well for the church to have such a person hanging around.Their actions only made the situation worse. Another Christian arrived and saw the same situation, yet instead of thinking this lady looks bad for the church. She thought this lady looks very distressed i want to help her. She walked over to her and calmly asked “how can i help you? lets go somewhere warm and we can talk.” To every ones surprise the action of this lady changed the whole situation. Through her bearing good fruit and caring instead of judging she was able to calm and change a situation around and get help for the lady who needed help. Turned out the lady was having a diabetic hypo and needed glucose and an ambulance not judgement.

Through her actions she’d not only shown the love and patience of the holy spirit but she’d planted a seed within the ladies heart. Who then at a later date became a christian her self.

Just because we we attend church and call our selves Christians, doesn’t mean we produce good fruit. When we stop! and think what would Jesus do and then proceed to act as the holy spirit guides us. Then we produce good fruit and from good fruit we can plant good seeds within others and change situations for the good. Reflecting glory back to God!

Never stop learning never think you’re to righteous to help.
